8.December.2014 A coming concert and future plans...
Due to some reasons I cannot recall, I neglected my website for almost 5 months, to which I ow you, as an audience, apologies. So what happened in these five months? I finished Hotel Grandjany, which will have its second performance on December 15th at the Korzo Theater in The Hague, by Annemieke Breunesse, a great harp player from Utrecht. Next I got a commission from the Netherlands Wind Ensemble (or Nederlands Blazers Ensemble) to compose a new piece for the tour of their youth division, the JongNBE, based on the New Zealand Maori dance Haka, including an actual theatrical performance with 'dancing' musicians. Four performances took place in The Hague, Groningen, Enschede and Eindhoven in late October 2014. For now, I will focus on my new Clarinet Concerto, which was delayed severely due to several circumstances, and more pieces will arrive soon, as I am also working currently on a new solo piece for Baritone Saxophone for Daan van Koppen, a concerto grosso for Adriaan van der Louw, Jenita Veurink, Ilse Bies and Jesse van der Ham, which will be premiered in June 2015, a solo percussion piece for Konstantyn Napolov, a new piece for the Ricciotti Ensemble, a new piece for DMSG Apollo orchestra and a very personal project for my masters graduation...
2.July.2014 New (and old) recordings on SoundCloud
After Youtube and Twitter, I now also have a SoundCloud account, which means that it is possible to (finally) stream music samples on this site. I hope you all will enjoy this new feature and more pieces will be uploaded soon!
2.July.2014 New Concerto on the block!

The concerto will consist of Four Dances: A Pavane, a Reel, a Zeibekiko and a Horo, dances from all over Europe which are not often used in a classical concerto. The piece will be orchestrated for Clarinet Solo, Celesta, Harp, String Orchestra and Percussion. More Deatails on Orchestral Works
2.July.2014 Radio Philharmonic records and performes Six Miniatures
Directly after my Bacheor Exam, I got a commission from the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic (Radio Filharmonisch Orkest) to compose six small ouvertures, as a gift for the newly opened concert hall TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht (NL). These pieces will be used as calling signals to warm the audience up before going to a (classical) concert. I feel extremely honored to have such a commission from one of the top-notch Dutch classical Orchestras and these calling signals will be played (if everything goes well for about 20 years...) On the Video Page, a YouTube Video is installed with a TV recording of the world premiere of 'Doppler Polka' (No.1) conducted by James Gaffigan.

For the coming two years I will focus more on Instrumental and Vocal music and I will continue my conducting lessons with Alex Schillings. In the new season 2013-2014 (my final Bachelor year) I will switch from my teacher Calliope Tsoupaki to Diderik Wagenaar, a teacher and a composer who really impressed me the past year by his inspiring analisis lessons and his views and ideas concerning music in general. 'Verses on Subtility' I new piece which I have allmost finished by now, will be premiered on the 28th of December at BIMHuis Amsterdam, a famous Jazz theatre, by the David Kweksilber Big Band, who commissioned the piece. The concert will feature a wide variety on new pieces and previously unknown Big Band repertoire like the works Bob Graettinger composed for the Stan Kenton Big Band. My contribution to this concert will be a six/seven minute long piece called 'Verses on Subtility', a piece that deals with soft, allmost impressionistic sounds versus a fast ragtime melody played by a C-Melody Saxophone... more info on the Ensemble Works page!
04.April.2013 Montrez-Moi Finished, Bicyclette revised, P.I.P Performed and STAGE on Tour
These last two months were very busy for me, as I finished three new works, revised one and just started on a new one which should be finished coming May... Montrez-Moi, my 6-minute piece for Voice and Violoncello on a Frisian poem was finished about two weeks ago, and two weeks ahead, the first (try-out) performance will take place during the Spring festival (see Upcoming... for more details). Just two days ago, I finished a revision on my piece Bicyclette, which I composed for the J.O.N.G.ensemble, this time in different, more regular meters, to improve playability and overview from the players perspective (and the main reason, they hopefully can play it now without a conductor) performances will take place in the new season 2013-2014. Also two weeks ago, my trio Prelude.Interlude.Poslude was succesfully premiered in the Arnold Schoenberghall during the chamber music exams. Unfortunately, only eight people were listening... And some other good news; STAGE, a clarinet duo I composed for Daniel Boeke and Pierre Woudenberg will be played in Turkey this summer during a tour which features Pierre Woudenberg and another student of him. Dates and Times will follow later... Besides that, interest has come from clarinet players from New-Zealand, who are asking me for sheet music to play it in their home-country. Last but not least; currently I work on a new composition for the David Kweksilber BigBand called 'Verses on Subtillity' and this piece will be premiered in the new concert season... (deadline: May 2013)

After two months of hard work, I finally finished my new work for the J.O.N.G.ensemble, entitled "Bicyclette!". Past Saturday there was a first rehearsal as a try-out, with half the ensemble present. Because of law-technical reasons, it was not possible to make an arrangement in which I would combine Poulenc and Stravinsky, so Pierre and I agreed to do a completely new piece instead..
24.June.2012 Milonga` to be premiered by an other orchestra?
Because of a lot of reasons, my 18-minute-Wind-Orchestra-piece Milonga` will not be premiered by the orchestra who commissioned the piece (see below), but I am now trying to get a world premiere of this piece by an other orchestra. Which orchestra will be revealed when they actually decide to play it, but this time it will be an orchestra with an outstanding level of performance and a lot of experience regarding world premieres...
22.June.2012 New Commission from 'De Bazuin'
Because of a lot of reasons, Milonga` will not be premiered by the orchestra who commisioned it. 'De Bazuin', the amature orchestra from a place near Rotterdam who commissioned this piece has now commissioned a new piece (which will be entitled: 'The Can Variations'), this time a shorter one (6-10 mins.) and one with a more lighter character, which will be premiered in the concert season 2013-2014.

9.April.2012 Milonga` Finished
With the second trailer on the block, I can now finally say that I have finished Milonga`, a seventeen minute long Symphonic Poem for Wind Orchestra and Amplified Double Bass. It has been a long journey to get this far, but the result is a piece I can be really proud of, since i've worked on it from October 2011... Now it's all depending on the orchestra what the result will be in November. To see what this piece was about; check the Milonga`page.
2.April.2012 Marcato for Double Bass finished; performance postponed...
Marcato for Double Bass is finally finished, but is onfortunately not performance ready. 4.March.2012 New Piece for Violin Solo
Instead of working on my deadlines for pieces like Marcato and Milonga`I decided a day ago to make a new piece for violin solo. It has the memorable length of 3 minutes and is really hard to play. Really. But it has a nice title though; Un Po 'Di Musica Per Violino Solo ('A Little Violin Solo Music'). More info will follow soon on the Solo Works page.
23.February.2012 Milonga` Trailer no. 1 in Rehearsal
Because I am no at approx. 67% of my composition Milonga` I agreed with the conductor to make a number of 'sneak-previews' of my piece; little sections of characteristic passages to 'warm-up' the musicians for the 'real' piece. The first trailer is in rehearsal since yesterday, with a new one upcoming in March. All the trailers will eventually be played at a concert in June, to prepare the audience for what is yet to come...
30.January.2012 Premiere 'Under Construction' postponed till 2013

On the Orchestral Works page you can find more information about this piece.

Yesterday I Finished the first three minutes of Viento, for the Speeddateproject with Modelo62 on the 22nd of November. Due to a full programme and the combination with a first years (amature) choir, the first performance of my choir piece Vowels had to be delayed to September 2012 or even April 2013. 24.August.2011 Vowels on First Year's Festival 2011
My yet-to-be-finished choir work 'Vowels' will be one of the core pieces during the First Year's festival in September on the Royal Conservatoire (the Hague). This six-minute choir piece deals with, as the title already says, with vowels and other sounds that the human mouth can produce. This will be settled in a vivid piece full of rythms and 'toccata-like' gestures, which will drive the conductor mad... or not....
4.August.2011 New Piece Finished; 'In Volare' for Flute solo
Not scheduled and finished in two days, 'In Volare' is maybe a kind of a Holiday Piece, but nevertheless, this is a hard show-off piece with some tricky lines and rythms.
